Currency exchange offices return to Azerbaijan

The Financial Markets Supervision Chamber has given the green light to the opening of currency exchange offices in Azerbaijan. About this Azeri Daily has been informed by Member of the Milli Majlis Vahid Ahmadov.

According to the MP, the Chamber began organisational issues in this direction from October 5.

Recall that after the devaluation of the manat in order to combat the illegal currency market, currency exchange offices in Azerbaijan were closed. The return of the exchangers coincided with the departure of Rufat Aslanli from the leadership of the Financial Markets Supervision Chamber.

From January 2016, currency exchange offices in Azerbaijan could operate only at banks and post offices.

According to the rules, when exchanging foreign currency in the amount of $500 or more (when selling) and $10 thousand or more (when buying), individuals must provide an identity card.
