Reconstruction of Azerbaijan TPP continues at accelerated pace



The reconstruction process at the Azerbaijan TPP in Mingachevir, the largest thermal power plant in the South Caucasus, continues at an accelerated pace. This was stated for Azeri Daily by the head of the centre of press and public relations of Azerenergy OJSC Teymur Abdullayev.

Repair works at the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth power units are nearing completion, and the corresponding work, which is envisaged at the other four power units, will be completed by the end of the year. In parallel, the relevant measures were completed in the three cells of the 500 kilovolt substation, work at the fourth, last cell, is approaching completion. In general, work at this substation is 90% complete.

Replaced are all 63 current transformers at 330 kilovolt substation, where the accident occurred in July last year. In general, most of the work at 330-kilovolt substations are finished. Work has been completed on a control centre under construction for a 330-kilovolt substation, and a phased transfer of protection, automation, and control of the repaired transmission lines to the new centre is currently being carried out.

In addition, the renovation of the concrete layer of the water channel has been completed. Work on the construction of a new bridge over the Upper Karabakh Canal for the population is being completed, and work on its asphalting will begin the other day. The six-storied engineering building of the Azerbaijan TPP has been completely reconstructed.

In addition, construction work was completed on the nitrogen-oxygen, air compressor section, on the oil reagent facilities, and on the chemical workshop of the station. Along with this, the fencing of the territory and other works continue at an accelerated pace. The completion of the reconstruction process of the Azerbaijan TPP is scheduled for the first half of next year.
