Why did US Ambassador refrained from visiting liberated Karabakh village? (Embassy responds)

The US Embassy in Azerbaijan has responded to our inquiry into the reasons for the Ambassador Robert Cekuta's absence during yesterday's visit of the diplomatic corps accredited in Baku to the village Jojuq Marjanli.

'The US Embassy sent to Jojuq Marjanli a representative of the highest rank in the field of aid and reconstruction, Mikaela Meredith, Director of USAID in Azerbaijan.

Meredith went there with the purpose to review and assess the situation and determine the direction of our help in the future.

Since 1992, the United States showed Azerbaijan assistance worth 1.3 billion dollars. We will continue our work with the authorities of Azerbaijan to build a strong, stable and democratic Azerbaijan,' says the response.
