Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland does not cease to surprise everyone. One has a feeling that this European politician completely doesn't care what will the others think about him, his statements and actions.

As it became known today, secretary general of the Council of Europe called for the return of the Russian delegation to the PACE session hall in no uncertain terms. This was written by the chairman of the permanent delegation of Ukraine in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Vladimir Aryev in Facebook, reports UNN.

'Today, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland came to us in the EPP group (European People's Party - Ed), and with open visor declared that after Russia's refusal to pay membership fees, the organisation has two ways out: to preserve its values or preserve the Council of Europe itself,' said Aryev.

In fact, by such a statement of the issue, Jagland has shown that the European values are less important to him than the organisation called the Council of Europe, which long outlived itself.

But that is not all. Thorbjørn Jagland continues to discredit the Council of Europe he heads. This time it is about Azerbaijan, a country that the secretary general dislikes, the fact he doesn't hide.

That is why he did not say anything about Azerbaijan in his recent article on issues of ethnic minorities and the conditions for using their native language. Though he did praise Armenia... But this is a country, in which there are simply no ethnic minorities. It is a mono-ethnic state, where even talking about education in Russian language can cause a political crisis.

However, nothing surprising: like the Council of Europe, like its secretary general.
