Prosecutor demanded to sentence Afgan Mukhtarly to eight years in prison


Today in the district court of the Balakan region a trial was held in the criminal case against Afgan Mukhtarli, APA news agency reports.

According to the information, at today's meeting the state prosecutor demanded to sentence the accused to eight years imprisonment.

It should be noted that A.Mukhtarly is accused of illegal crossing of the state border and smuggling. He was detained by the employees of the State Border Service on May 29, 2017 at 22:40 in the territory of the Balakan District, after illegally crossing the Azerbaijani border. When detained, Mukhtarly resisted the staff of the State Border Service. During the search a large sum of money was found in him.

Charges were brought against A.Mukhtarly under Articles 318 (illegal crossing of the state border), 206 (smuggling) and 315.2 (resistance or use of violence against the representative of the authorities) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
