Defence Ministry: 'Azerbaijan didn't appeal to Russia for purchasing Bal-E missiles'

Azerbaijan did not appeal to Russia for purchasing the Bal-E coastal missile systems, Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence told Trend news agency commenting on the information that recently spread about Azerbaijan being allegedly interested in buying this missile systems, and the Russian side not considering the sale expedient.

'There were no negotiations on the purchase of the Bal-E missile systems, and we had no intention to acquire this complex,' the Ministry informed.

At the same time, the ministry stressed that advanced security systems and missile systems of various countries are used to ensure security in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

Recall that yesterday the Russian newspaper 'Kommersant' reported that the supply of the coastal missile complex Bal-E to the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan failed due to the position of the Russian Defence Ministry. According to the newspaper, the Russian military considered that even an export modification of the missile of this complex could carry a potential threat to the ships of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Federation, located in the Russian territorial waters.
