Safar Mehdiyev told Germans about green corridor and introduction of blockchain

A meeting with members of the German-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce was held at the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Customs Committee, his deputies and heads of relevant structures, as well as Tobias Baumann, Executive Director of the German-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and members of the Chamber.

The development of mutual cooperation, as well as innovations in the customs field were discussed at the meeting.

Informing those present about the reforms carried out in the customs sphere under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Safar Mehdiyev noted that Azerbaijan had already formed a customs service with a flexible management mechanism and modern infrastructure.

He noted that as a result of the reforms, contacts between citizens and officials were minimised, and important steps were taken to increase the level of satisfaction of citizens. Also achieved were important successes in the fiscal sphere, and in the fight against offences.

It was emphasised that the green corridor system introduced in February of this year made it possible to simplify export-import operations, speed up the process of crossing the border and reduce the loss of time and money of entrepreneurs.

Safar Mehdiyev spoke about the widespread use of information technology, about measures to introduce blockchain technologies. The head of the committee noted that the implementation of a new project in the near future will allow citizens and vehicles to register online in a queue for passing border checkpoints and pass these points in a high-speed mode without losing time.

Tobias Baumann, Executive Director of the German-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, thanked Safar Mehdiyev for the warm welcome and expressed satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations. The head of the Chamber of Commerce noted that the reforms carried out in the customs sphere of Azerbaijan created conditions for the development of international trade, simplification of border crossing procedures and all customs procedures. He also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Chamber headed by him and the customs authorities of Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, which was held in the form of discussion, the suggestions of members of the chamber were heard and explanations were given on the issues of interest to them.
