Remains of deceased Azerbaijani military pilot found (Updated)

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has confirmed media reports that the body of Lieutenant-Colonel Rashad Atakishiyev, the pilot of the MiG-29 fighter jet of the Azerbaijani Air Force, which crashed on July 24 this year during night training flights over the Caspian Sea, has been found.

Currently, relevant measures are being taken to organise the funeral of the military pilot.

The body of Lieutenant-Colonel Rashad Atakishiyev, the pilot of the MiG-29 fighter jet of the Azerbaijani Air Force, which crashed on July 24, was found. This was announced to the portal Modern.az by a former state adviser, father-in-law of the deceased pilot Gabil Huseynli.

According to him, the body of the deceased pilot is currently in the Association of Forensic Medical Examination and Pathological Anatomy.

Tomorrow at 9 am in the Armed Forces Training Centre, a farewell ceremony will take place. He will be buried on the 2nd Alley of Honour.

As previously reported, communication with the MiG-29 Azerbaijani Air Force fighter was cut off on July 24 at 22:00 local time during a planned training flight. The plane crashed in the territorial waters of Azerbaijan over the Caspian Sea.
