Coronavirus cases in Russia rise to 658 over past day

The number of the novel coronavirus cases in Russia has grown by 163 over the past day to 658, with 55 regions hit by the disease, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said on Wednesday, Tass reports.

"Today 658 people in 55 regions of Russia have been infected and 29 people have recovered. Some 112,000 people are under supervision and self-isolated," Golikova told a coordination council on fighting against the coronavirus spread.

According to the anti-coronavirus crisis center, new 163 coronavirus cases in Russia have been recorded in 20 regions across the country. The new cases were registered in Moscow (120), the Moscow Region (6), Crimea (6), the Pskov Region (4), the Krasnodar Region (4), the Orenburg Region (3), the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) (3), the Tula Region (2), the Komi Republic (2), the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (2), the Perm Region (2), the Bryansk Region (1), the Arkhangelsk Region (1), the Kaliningrad Region (1), the Stavropol Region (1), the Rostov Region (1), the Bashkortostan Republic (1), the Nizhny Novgorod Region (1), the Penza Region (1) and the Chelyabinsk Region (1).

Earlier Moscow’s anti-coronavirus crisis center reported that the capital would stop sending positive samples for confirmation to Novosibirsk. The coronavirus will be diagnosed after the first positive sample at one of Moscow’s federal or city laboratories.

The coronavirus outbreak was recorded in central China in late December 2019. More than 160 countries have been hit by this infection, which was labeled as a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020. According to the latest data, over 410,000 people have contracted the virus and more than 18,000 have died.
