Putin's assistant: Ilham Aliyev goes to Sochi for talks


President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will take part in the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the CIS member states that will be held in Sochi on October 11, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Russian president's Assistant Yuri Ushakov.

Presidents of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have also confirmed their participation in the meeting of the CIS leaders. Kyrgyzstan this year will be represented at the level of the prime minister: Almazbek Atambayev is busy preparing for the presidential elections that will be held in the republic on October 15.

In addition, by tradition, heads of a number of regional organisations, including the SCO, the Union State, the CSTO and the Eurasian Economic Commission, have been invited to the CIS summit.
