In the capital of Belgium, Brussels, on the initiative of Azerbaijan, an international forum is held on the theme 'Threat of separatism to peace and security.' Head of the Yeni Musvat media group Rauf Arifoglu informed the Yeni Musavat newspaper about this.

According to him, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in European countries, ex-presidents, ex-prime ministers, ex-speakers of parliaments of many countries, international experts, politicians, media representatives take part in the forum. Azerbaijan is represented at the forum by political and public figures.

'In fact, this is a big forum on Karabakh. To organise such a forum in Brussels, which is considered the capital of Europe, and to gather representatives of many countries for participation in it, is a great success for Azerbaijan. I am sure that this forum will inspire even more activity of representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, who came here from many countries. The fact that the Assistant of the President of Azerbaijan for socio-political issues Ali Hasanov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov and other representatives of the state take part in the work of the forum, is a serious message to both our friends and our enemies.

The forum takes place in the heart of Brussels - the Marriott Hotel. I drew attention to the fact that unprecedented security measures were taken here, which we are not used to in Baku. So, our hotel is guarded by armed soldiers,' said Rauf Arifoglu.

The forum on the topic 'Threat of separatism to peace and security' was opened by Ali Hasanov.

According to the program of the event, the meeting of the first panel of the forum is called 'The wave of separatism in a new world order. How can this problem be solved?'

The meeting will be moderated by the former ambassador, the UN resident coordinator in Ukraine in 2004-2009, the representative of the Irish Institute in International and European Affairs Martin O'Donnell.

The meeting will also feature former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, former Speaker of the Israeli Parliament Dalia Itzik, former Prime Minister of Moldova Dimitru Braghis, former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Hassan Muratovich, a member of the Royal Legal and Legislative Academy of Spain, attorney Jesús López-Medel Baskones, head of the interparliamentary group Israel-Azerbaijan, member of the Israeli parliament Robert Ilatov, the founder and the chief executive director of the European Forum on international mediation and dialogue (MediatEUr) Antzhe Herrberg, and others.
