Samad Seyidov: 'Azerbaijan is open for international observers'

Azerbaijan is open for monitoring by the international organisations of the early presidential election on April 11, 2018, head of the delegation of the Milli Majlis in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Samad Seyidov told Azeri Daily.

'We can officially say that we sent a request to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and other international organiыations. We are absolutely open to observation missions. When they decide on participation in monitoring is another matter,' Seyidov stressed.

He did not rule out the possibility of including in the agenda of the spring session of the PACE the issue related to the discussion of the results of the early presidential election in Azerbaijan.

'Usually after elections, if an observation mission comes to the country, then on the basis of the visit it presents a report. If observers manage to prepare this report for the session, they acquaint the European parliamentarians with it at the session. If they do not succeed, they present it within the framework of the PACE Standing Committee. So everything will depend on the observers themselves and their participation in monitoring the election,' Seyidov said.
