Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on sanctions against Iran

Azerbaijani experts are thoroughly studying the US sanctions against Iran, and their possible implications for the economy of Azerbaijan, Press-Secretary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva told journalists, commenting on the question of the possible impact on the Azerbaijani economy of the US sanctions that had entered into force on Monday, November 5.

'Iran is a close neighbour of Azerbaijan, and an important partner in many areas. And at the same time, the multilateral relations that exist between Azerbaijan and the United States are important for us,' said Abdullayeva.

Note that on November 5, US sanctions against Iran entered into force. Sanctions will cover the sphere of oil exports.

US President Donald Trump announced in May that Washington was withdrawing from the agreement on nuclear program with Iran. He also reported on the restoration of all sanctions against Iran, including secondary ones, that is, against other countries doing business with Iran. The United States re-introduced part of the sanctions against Iran on August 7.
