Azerbaijani and Russian parliamentarians preparing conference in Moscow

Parliamentarians of Azerbaijan and Russia intend to hold a parliamentary conference at the State Duma in Moscow in the near future. Signing of a document on the establishment of a high-level inter-parliamentary commission is also expected, a diplomatic source in Baku told RIA Novosti.

In June, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin took the initiative to create a relevant commission during his official visit to Baku. It was reported that in September a delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation headed by Vice Speaker Sergey Neverov visited Azerbaijan.

In October, Volodin met with Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov at the third meeting of speakers of Eurasian parliaments in Turkish Antalya. They agreed that the intensity of the meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev should be an example for the parliaments of the two countries. Volodin then noted that work on the creation of an inter-parliamentary commission was at the final stage.

'In the near future, an inter-parliamentary conference is expected to be held in Moscow. It is also expected that a document on cooperation and the establishment of a high-level inter-parliamentary commission will be signed,' the source told the agency.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, it is planned to discuss the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation and prospects for the work of the inter-parliamentary commission.
