Ilham Aliyev: 'Current government system is outdated'

'You know, I am always ready to talk about the successes achieved, and we have a lot of achievements to be proud of. But I have always believed that it is impossible to stop there. We must strive for the best. Where it is possible, we, using the maximum of our capabilities, should do everything to make things go even better.'

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development in 2018 and the upcoming tasks.

'Personnel reforms are pursuing precisely this goal. And now structural changes are expected. Because the current government system is outdated. There must be a new government system - more flexible, more compact, more expedient. Because over the years, new structures have been created. Their creation is not strongly felt. One is created here, the other there, then this service, then that agency. And then we see that our government system is greatly inflated. And now the reverse process is going on in the world - control systems are more compact, more flexible, more expedient in order to carry out a larger volume of tasks with a smaller number of employees. And our government system swells up. This must end. Therefore, structural and personnel reforms should be carried out. In every field, every manager should work with maximum efficiency,' said President Ilham Aliyev.
