Azerbaijani FM presented in Tehran as new ambassador

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov made a visit to Tehran yesterday, March 9, where he was received by the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, on the English version of the websites of the Iranian Presidency and the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Mammadyarov was listed as the new ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iran.

Thus, in an official release appearing on the English version of the Iranian president’s website, it is said that the president 'accepted the credentials of the new ambassador of Azerbaijan.' And further: 'Speaking with the new ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Saturday in Tehran, while receiving credentials, Dr. Hassan Rouhani said: 'The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran are determined to further develop relations with Azerbaijan in all areas of mutual interest...'

On the website of the Iranian Foreign Ministry it was written: 'The new Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran, Elmar Mammadyarov also presented his credentials to President Rouhani and said that 'there are no obstacles to the development of relations between the two countries.'

Meanwhile, on the English-language version of the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in the news about the visit of Mammadyarov to Tehran, he is everywhere mentioned in the status of minister, and not that of ambassador.
