'Last year, the European Commission and Azerbaijan signed a Partnership Priority Letter. This is a very important document. It supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of Azerbaijan,' said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a joint briefing with President of the European Council Donald Tusk.

'Today, at a tet-a-tete meeting and the one with delegations, we discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, regional development and security issues. We discussed the ongoing negotiations between the European Commission and Azerbaijan on the new agreement. We have expressed our views on the prospects of the negotiations. Negotiations continue successfully. Many issues have already been solved. At present, we are working on other issues in the spirit of good partnership.

Last year, the European Commission and Azerbaijan signed a Partnership Priority Letter. This is a very important document. It supports the territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of Azerbaijan.

Today, during a meeting with President Tusk, I briefed him on our position on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The conflict should be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and in accordance with relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council. For many years, our territories are occupied by Armenians. More than one million refugees and internally displaced persons suffer from aggression and occupation. Our strict position is that the conflict should be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Our efforts are aimed at resolving the conflict in the fastest possible time.

Armenia's non-constructive position is the main reason why the conflict has not been solved yet. I must note that the efforts of the international community and the OSCE Minsk Group should focus on the resolution of the conflict in the shortest possible time. Status quo is unacceptable and needs to be changed. Change of status quo means the beginning of the liberation of Azerbaijani territories,' reiterated Ilham Aliyev.
