Ilham Aliyev about road to Nakhchivan: We'll talk with Russia, not with Armenia

'Horadiz-Aghbend railway will also be reconstructed. The village of Aghbend is located in the Zangilan district near the border with Armenia. The enemy destroyed and completely disabled this road. This road is of particular importance for the opening of the Nakhchivan corridor. Currently, concrete work is underway to open the Nakhchivan corridor. I don’t want to be ahead of the events, but the opening of this corridor was reflected in the statement signed on November 10.' Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated this at a meeting dedicated to the results of 2020, Azerbaijan State News Agency informs.

'It will definitely be and will open up new opportunities for the region. This road will be used by Azerbaijan and Turkey, Russia, Armenia and Iran. This road is of particular importance for multilateral cooperation in the future. We will begin construction of the Horadiz-Aghbend railway on our territory. In parallel with this, work will be carried out to restore and modernise the railway in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Considering that the railways of Armenia are owned by the Russian Railways, our partner, of course, is Russia, because Armenia has nothing to do with the project of the railway in Meghri. We are discussing this issue with Russia, because Russian Railways owns the railways of Armenia. The preliminary discussions are positive. So far, only this. Information will be given about future events,' said the president.
