Ilham Aliyev about clashes on Azerbaijan-Armenia border

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi, stated that there had been no serious incidents in the zone of temporary responsibility of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh.

'I must note that this year or since the beginning of the activities of the Russian peacekeeping forces -- from November 10 last year -- since then, during the year, in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers there have been no serious incidents,' said Ilham Aliyev.

But at the same time, Ilham Aliyev noted that there had been clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

'There were clashes on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, but this is not the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers. Nevertheless, of course, this forces us to look very closely at everything, talk, including in a trilateral format, how we can control the risks, minimise them and work on a comprehensive settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations,' Ilham Aliyev emphasised, as quoted by Interfax.
