Russian Foreign Ministry: 'We'll do everything possible to achieve peace in Karabakh'

Russia continues to work closely with other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, France and the United States, towards a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said in an interview with the newspaper 'Izvestia' Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin.

There is only one realistic perspective: the peaceful settlement of the conflict through negotiations. The vital interest of the Azerbaijani and Armenian people in security, stability and development is the basis and political mover of the negotiation process, which Russia supports in every way,' said Karasin.

He recalled that Russia as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group is working closely with other members of the troika: France and the United States.

According to him, Russia is striving to do everything possible to assist the parties to the conflict in developing peace agreements in the direction of the vector set by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.

'This our position remains unchanged. It is fixed in the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation and confirmed during the recent meetings of Vladimir Putin with the leaders of both countries,' said Grigory Karasin.
