Lebedev: Aliyev-Pashinyan meeting eased tensions in Karabakh

The meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan at the last summit of the Commonwealth in Dushanbe reduced tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev told reporters in Minsk.

'I myself witnessed how Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan repeatedly approached each other and discussed the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The results are obvious: now the tension in the region has somewhat decreased,' said Lebedev.

'We very much hope that this first meaningful contact between the leaders of the two states is continued and will give positive results for resolving this conflict,' S. Lebedev stressed.
