Pashinyan wants to talk to Azerbaijani people

Armenian President Armen Sarkissian could not participate in the meeting of the country's National Security Council in Nagorno-Karabakh, Sputnik-Armenia reports with reference to his press-service.

As explained by the press-service, the president received an invitation to the meeting the day before late in the evening and was unable to attend it 'for technical reasons.'

At the same time, speaking at the Security Council in occupied Karabakh, Nikol Pashinyan touched on the topic of the negotiation process to resolve the conflict. He once again repeated his thesis that he does not have a mandate to negotiate on behalf of the Armenian population of Karabakh.

Nikol Pashinyan also talked about preparing peoples for peace. As an example, he cited his speech in the autumn of 2018. In that speech, Pashinyan noted that the settlement of the conflict should be satisfactory for the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the population of Karabakh.

According to him, he expected the same statement from the Azerbaijani side, but did not hear it.

'Despite this, I am ready to continue the dialogue not only with the president of Azerbaijan, but also with the Azerbaijani people. Because I am sure that this people is as peaceful as the Armenian people,' said Pashinyan.
