Russian military attache in Armenia: 'We're watching exercises in Nakhchivan'


The command of the 102nd Russian military base is closely following the joint military exercises of Turkey and Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan. According to the Armenian media, this was stated by the military attache of the Russian embassy in Armenia, Andrei Grischuk.

According to him, military exercises in Nakhchivan 'currently do not pose any threat,' and Russia is watching these exercises.

'These exercises are interesting in terms of statistics and, as the ambassador noted, the preservation of stability in the region. They do not pose any threat at the moment. These are basic exercises and are conducted in accordance with the stated goals, therefore we are watching these exercises,' said Andrei Grischuk.

It should be noted that in accordance with the Agreement on Military Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey, the last stage of the joint tactical exercises 'Indestructible Brotherhood 2019' with live firing are being held in Nakhchivan from June 7 to 11.

Up to 5,000 military personnel, more than 200 units of tanks and other armoured vehicles, up to 180 rocket and artillery systems of different calibre and jet systems are involved in the exercises, which take place with the participation of units of the Separate Combined-Arms Army, various power structures of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, rocket systems and mortars, 21 aircraft and helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and various types of modern weapons and military equipment.
