Turkey has proposed a 'Syrian model' for Karabakh. Russia refused (Çavuşoğlu's statement)

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu believes that a settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh is possible only if Armenia leaves the occupied territories, Anadolu Agency reports.

'We spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the conflict in Karabakh. As we act together in Syria, we tried here too, but failed. They say: let the war stop. Let it. We need to declare a truce, but Armenia must withdraw from the occupied territories. Is this being said? No. Then how will the issue be resolved?' said Çavuşoğlu in an interview with Anadolu Agency.

According to him, 'Azerbaijan endured for a long time.'

'More than 20% of its territory is under occupation, a million of its citizens are deprived of their homeland. This is a big drama, people want to return home, but no one notices. Azerbaijan is right both morally and legally,' added the Turkish FM.
