Cavusoglu warned Armenia: In case of ceasefire violation, centre in Aghdam will take action (Video)

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, who is on a visit to Portugal, answered questions from journalists during a press conference.

According to Turkish media, Cavusoglu was asked about the existence of competition between Russia and Turkey in Karabakh and agreements on joint activities to control the ceasefire regime.

Cavusoglu said that Turkey supports Azerbaijan not only because it is 'one nation - two states,' but also because Azerbaijan adheres to a fair position based on the norms of international law.

The foreign minister stressed that Azerbaijan has conducted successful military operations and now there is a ceasefire in the region:

'We are in the process of creating a Joint Russian-Turkish Centre to Control the Ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh on the territory determined by Azerbaijan and at the points indicated to us. The main goal of this centre will be to control the ceasefire, and in case of violation, appropriate preventive measures will be taken,' said the minister.

Cavusoglu added that despite the fact that during the 44-day war, the ceasefire was declared three times, Armenia violated it each time:

'We hope this country will follow the latest agreement. Only after that it will be possible to talk about the normalisation of our relations with Armenia. All the steps that we take in the future will be discussed with Azerbaijan,' said the Turkish FM.
