The National Youth Forum 'Agenda 2030: Focus on the Environment' has been held at Baku Convention Centre. Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Union, Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) Leyla Aliyeva attended the Forum, informs Azerbaijan State News Agency.

Organised on World Environment Day, the aim of the event is to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among youth with an emphasis on environmental aspects, and increase young people's role in implementing Agenda 2030 through encouraging them to become SDGs ambassadors.

Leyla Aliyeva addressed the opening ceremony.

Other speakers at the event included Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. in Azerbaijan Edward Carwardine and Director of IDEA Animal Care Centre Surkhay Shukurov.

UN Secretary-General on World Environment Day addressed the Forum through video conference.

The Forum continued with panel meetings.
