Nargiz Pashayev was declared star of CIS



By the decision of the Council on awarding the interstate prize 'Stars of the Commonwealth' for outstanding achievements in the field of art, science and education, the Vice-President of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, Head of the Nizami Centre of the Oxford University, Professor Nargiz Pashayeva was awarded the 2017 prize. This is reported by Azeri Daily with reference to TASS.

In addition to Nargiz Pashayeva, People's Artist of the USSR, violist and conductor Yuri Bashmet, violinist Ayman Musahadzhayeva (Kazakhstan), poet Nizom Kosim (Tajikistan), composer Stepan Shakaryan (Armenia), literary critic Abdildazhan Akmataliyev (Kirghizia), physicist Ion Bostan (Moldova), biathlonist Daria Domracheva (Belarus) became winners of the prize.

The solemn ceremony of awarding will be held at the XIII Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS member states, which will be held on June 19-20 in Astana.

The Interstate Award 'Stars of the Commonwealth' was established by the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States and the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO) in 2009. The award is annually awarded in three categories: in the field of science and education, culture and art, humanitarian activities. Among the laureates of past years were Yuri Grigorovich, Eugene Doga, Alexandra Pakhmutova and Nikolay Dobronravov, Mehriban Aliyeva, Vladimir Spivakov, Djivan Gasparyan and others. The winners receive a diploma, an honorary insignia and 2 million roubles.
