Safar Mehdiyev met with customs volunteers (Photo)


A meeting was held at the State Customs Committee with members of the Volunteer Customs Unit. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Customs Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev, representatives of the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovations, as well as more than 130 participants of the Volunteer Customs Unit.

Speaking before the customs volunteers, Safar Mehdiyev noted that at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, in recent years, the volunteering movement has spread widely in Azerbaijan. According to Safar Mehdiyev, this is a clear example of the care and trust shown by the head of state towards youth.

The chairman of the State Customs Committee noted that the creation of a volunteering movement in the customs system will create conditions for more efficient use of the potential of young people, active participation of young people in all spheres of society, as well as enhance their experience.

Safar Mehdiyev added that the foundation of youth policy in Azerbaijan was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and both in the Soviet period and in the years of independence Heydar Aliyev paid special attention to education, health and vocational training of young people.

Noting that this policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, the chairman of the State Committee stressed that with the support of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, young people are constantly moving in both the public and private sectors, they have great confidence and are surrounded by the state care.

Safar Mehdiyev highly appreciated the active participation of volunteers in the ambitious events held in recent years in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that the volunteer movement will justify itself in the customs sphere.

The head of the State Committee told the audience about the significance of the reforms carried out by President Ilham Aliyev in the customs area, expressing the hope that the Volunteer Customs Unit would also make an important contribution to the effective organisation of customs affairs.

A fourth-year student of Baku State University, speaking on behalf of the volunteers, Shahri Gasimzadeh noted that the institution of volunteering is developing rapidly in Azerbaijan and that young people will make every effort to justify the confidence placed in them.
