Eynulla Fatullayev addressed Azerbaijani public: 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta' is in danger! (Urgent and topical)

'For several days now, the Armenian Embassy in Russia, the Armenian Diaspora and Russian officials of Armenian descent have been organising attacks on the famous Russian newspaper 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta.' The reason for the attacks was the loud article written by our employee Lev Askerov about the Sumgayit events and published in this newspaper.' This is stated in the appeal of the Head of the Haqqin.Az Group of information and analytical sites (haqqin.az , virtualaz.org , azeridaily.com) Eynulla Fatullayev to the Azerbaijani public, published on his Facebook page.

According to him, the Armenian Embassy has already sued the 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta,' and also filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia.

'For the first time in 32 years, the Russian media published the whole truth about the Sumgayit events. Evidence was presented about the direct participation in these events of a Soviet citizen, ethnic Armenian Eduard Grigoryan, and also openly stated that the riots were part of a planned provocative policy directed against Azerbaijan. The Armenian public and the diaspora are extremely concerned. But for some reason ours are silent. Where is Putin's friend Ilham Rahimov? Where is our diaspora, our oligarchs and billionaires? Why don't they raise their voice?' asks the journalist.

Eynulla Fatullaev noted that his Russian colleagues from the 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta' were preparing for a serious battle.

'The trial is starting in Moscow in a few days, and we will turn it into an exposure of Armenia and Armenian nationalists. So far, we only feel support in this matter from a lawyer, a former employee of the USSR Prosecutor General's Office Aslan Ismayilov, who acted as the state prosecutor in the process of Sumgayit events. But I believe that the whole of Azerbaijani society should be mobilised. And we must turn this lawsuit against Armenia!' Eynulla Fatullayev stated.

Earlier, Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toganyan said in an interview with the 'Moscow Talks' radio station that he had appealed to the Prosecutor General of Russia with a request to start an investigation into the incitement of ethnic hatred, xenophobia and religious intolerance. The reason was the article by Lev Askerov 'Sumgait Tragedy: How it started and how it was. Based on archival documents of the KGB of the USSR,' published in the 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta.' An NGO 'Association of Armenians of Russia' also made a similar complaint.
