Baku Metro increases security measures

Baku Metro (subway) is continuing to implement enhanced control and preventive measures in order to fulfil the tasks provided for by law in connection with the declaration of martial law in the country, as well as to prevent the massive spread of the new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Spokesperson for the department, Bahtiyar Mammadov told reporters that the metro strictly monitors compliance with the rules for using medical masks and observing social distance.

New checkpoints at stations help to regulate passenger traffic: 'This multi-functional system, which is being used at metro stations for the first time, works in automatic mode, performs an accelerated inspection of transported items, including bags and other containers within the specified dimensions.'

In order to strengthen preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus infection at stations and on trains, inspections by metro and police officers have been strengthened at certain times.
