Azerbaijan didn't like statements by Iranian FM in Lebanon

'Unfortunately, the Iranian Foreign Ministry does not abandon its slanderous campaign against Azerbaijan. We firmly reject such accusations.'

This was stated by the Spokesperson for the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry, Leyla Abdullayeva, commenting on the statements regarding Azerbaijan made by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Amir Abdollahian, in an interview with the Lebanese Al-Manar TV channel.

'We stated during the 44-day war, and now we emphasise once again that there were no terrorists in the territory of Azerbaijan and there are no terrorists, as they claim. There has never been a place for terrorists in the territory of Azerbaijan, as a country affected by terrorism,' said the Foreign Ministry's spokesperson.

L. Abdullayeva recalled the statements of the head of the Azerbaijani state: 'As noted by Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan, which has a 100,000-strong army, does not need mercenaries. Surprisingly, no such accusations were made by Iran during the war, and before the new government came to power in the country after the war, there were no particularly troubling issues.

'The anti-Azerbaijani campaign will not benefit Iran. It is known that the reasons for these unfounded accusations are the suppression of the illegal entry of Iranian trucks into the territory of Azerbaijan and the liberation of the Azerbaijani lands from occupation.'
