'Azerbaijan is always open for political dialogue and welcomes such contacts. In this regard, Azerbaijan agreed to the proposal of the President of the European Council to organise a meeting of the leaders of the two countries within the framework of the Brussels summit.' Leyla Abdullayeva, Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, stated this.

According to her, on November 19, President of the European Council Charles Michel held telephone talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The President of the EU Council proposed to hold a meeting of the leaders of the two countries within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Brussels on December 15 this year.

'The position of Azerbaijan regarding the realities of the post-conflict period has been repeatedly voiced by the head of state. We believe that the Brussels summit and the upcoming meeting will create additional opportunities,' said Abdullayeva.
