Mine clearance continues in liberated territories


Fortification detachments of the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations continue work on demining the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from the occupation.

Ehtiram Khalilov, the Head of the Emergencies Ministry's sector, told Azeri Daily that after the 44-day Patriotic War, employees of the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were also involved in the process of clearing the territory from mines, unexploded ordnance and other consequences of the war, along with other state structures.

'The operations, which started in January 2021, are carried out mainly in the direction of Aghdam and Fuzuli districts, in villages and settlements, as well as around water basins. Employees are equipped with the latest equipment and have been accredited after special courses in this area. The demining process continues in full. The territories are cleared together with employees of other state bodies. Construction work is being carried out in the liberated territories in parallel. The state uses all available opportunities so that there are no obstacles left in the territories for the safe residence of the population, who will soon return here,' said the head of the sector.

The representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations also appealed to those who are engaged in construction to be careful on the sites, to use the marked, cleared roads.

According to him, many citizens, unfortunately, visit or want to visit the liberated territories without permission. The Ministry of Emergency Situations asks to refrain from such trips, and if mines and unexploded ordnance are found, suspicious items that are not related to the area, report this to the 112 hotline of the Ministry of Emergencies.
